Teacher Judianne Walls said her “students had fun and learned so much this past month; it is amazing how interesting garbage is!” She added, “The ravine cleanup was a great way to celebrate Earth Day because it increased the students’ understanding of littering and the impact it makes on the environment. When you stop and pick up things like cigarette butts, tin cans, plastic toys and broken glass, it really raises your awareness. After the cleanup, we sat on the bridge, shared what we found and discussed the effect of this kind of human behaviour on the planet. My class is ready to make a difference and provide solutions to many environmental problems.”
