Let’s get moving

September 12, 2016 Dr. Phil McRae, The Learning Team Editor

Editor’s Note

Parents and guardians of Alberta’s most precious resource, our children and youth, must take an active role in understanding physical literacy development. In fact, this responsibility is not only vital for an individual’s healthy development, but it is also essential to the collective well-being of a digitally saturated society confronting hours of motionless sitting.

I am very thankful to Mr. Brian Torrance and the many contributors in this edition of The Learning Team for their sage advice and practical considerations for helping all our children (students) shape positive attitudes toward physical activity into their adult years.

Dr. Phil McRae is an executive staff officer with the Alberta Teachers’ Association and adjunct professor within the faculty of education at the University of Alberta.
