Did You KNOW...

January 17, 2017

The most important factor for success in dealing with a mental health problem or emergency is support.

Teachers, staff and school communities are all part of a student’s support system. The Alberta Teachers’ Association, in partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association, has made available a reference booklet for teachers about the mental health needs of their students. Compassionate Classrooms features more than 30 pages of information for teachers, including what mental illness is and what teachers can do to promote good mental health of children and youth.

For more information and to download a copy of Compassionate Classrooms, plus an accompanying lesson plan, visit www.canwetalk.ca.

Did You Know highlights programs and resources offered by the Alberta Teachers’ Association. Watch for instalments in future issues of the ATA News.
