Teacher’s pet

October 7, 2014

We asked on our Facebook page for teachers to send in pictures of their pets along with short answers to two questions.

Pet Name: Charli

Breed: shih tzu-bichon

Owner: Tarynne Angell, Grade 2 at Robina Baker Elementary in Devon

What makes your pet special?

“He’s snuggly and always greets me with excitement, making even the hard days just disappear.  He has been my teacher’s pet since he was seven weeks old and would have been 10 years old but we had to put him down a few months ago after a sudden terminal illness.”

How does your pet help you in your profession?

“Every time I used to go to school after hours when it was quiet and creepy, I would take Charli with me. He would sit outside my classroom door and guard me from all the creepy creaks and sounds. Then, whenever someone came in or was outside the door, he would bark and give me a heads up. Now that he is gone, I know it is silly, but I hate having to go in after hours. It’s not the same. So, to be honest, since he’s been gone, not as much gets accomplished.”
