The Educational Technology Council hosted a conference entitled Alberta Teachers’ Maker Space on Sept. 29 at Barnett House in Edmonton. Participants learned about the Makerspaces movement in education and learned how K-12 schools, teachers and students are creating and designing interactive and hands-on learning experiences through cross curricular competency/project-based approaches. Attendees applied their knowledge of design thinking and developed a prototype through a design challenge. At the end of the session, participants marvelled at each other’s creations, which were on display.

Joseph Clark tests the prototype he created during the Design Thinking Challenge session at the Alberta Teachers’ Makerspace Conference on Sept. 29.
