Emerald Day in Fort McMurray

A showcase of great environmental initiatives in the Wood Buffalo region, Emerald Day will take place at MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray on Thursday, Oct. 2. The event will include a school-focused event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will include displays, short presentations, and a featured presentation by one of Time magazine’s 60 Heroes for the Planet, Simon Jackson.

A community reception, which will encourage networking, sharing and another presentation by Simon Jackson, will take place from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The event is free thanks to event sponsors Syncrude and Newalta.

Stories and photos wanted

The ATA News is always on the lookout for interesting articles, photos and cartoons. Articles should not exceed 500 words and should be accompanied by a short byline, stating where you work and what you teach. Photos of teachers or students participating in interesting activities are welcome, as are cartoons. Don’t forget to include photo captions.
