Deadline nears for annual photo contest

May 5, 2015 ATA News Staff

The deadline is fast approaching for the ATA News’ annual Gotcha! Photo Contest.

The contest, which is open to ATA members, closes May 16.

“Submissions are starting to trickle in now, but it was quite slow until the last couple of weeks or so,” said Cory Hare, managing editor of the ATA News.

“But I’m hoping to see more so we can have a good, healthy competition for the prizes.”

This year, for the first time, the contest involves cash prizes: $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place.

“The contest has been a fixture in the ATA News for many years. Each year, teachers turn in some fine work that gives us glimpses of the diverse activities in Alberta schools,” said Yuet Chan, a longtime photographer and graphic designer for the ATA News who serves as contest judge.

“There are some good photographers among Alberta teachers,” she said. “I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ve produced this year.” ❚
