Snowballs (in August) and sandwiches on the first day of school

From a snowball fight to making lunches, Edmonton’s Mother Teresa Catholic School was abuzz with activities on August 11, the first day of school. As an ice-breaker, students threw paper snowballs at each other. Each student opened a snowball, guessed who wrote the message and learned more about that classmate. Afterwards, they got busy making sandwiches for students who hadn’t brought lunches to school—part of the Grade 6 leadership role of demonstrating citizenship and social responsibility.

Mother Teresa Catholic School is one of three schools in the Edmonton Catholic Separate School District that offers a year-round schooling calendar. Students returned to school in mid-August but will enjoy a two-week fall break in October and a two-week spring break in March.
