Teacher’s pet

October 21, 2014

We asked on our Facebook page for teachers to send in pictures of their pets along with short answers to two questions.

Pet Name: Monty

Breed: Sphynx

Owner: Malorie Petersen, English and drama teacher at Charles Spencer High School in Grande Prairie

What makes your pet special?

“A look at the photo will probably make that clear ... but he's also special because I got him from a former student who breeds this type of cat. She knew I was a huge cat lover and gave me the opportunity to have one of the kittens from the litter!”

How does your pet help you in your profession?

“He, along with my other two (furrier) cats, reminds me to take time for myself and not to stress out all the time. They all do this by falling asleep in my marking bin while I'm marking at home ... leaving me no choice but to sit back and enjoy their cuteness while I take a break.”
