Two elections for Calgary City teachers

Teachers employed in the geographic district of Calgary City will be voting in two elections this March:

  • 2019 PEC Election
  • 2019 Calgary City By-Election

Why two elections?

A by-election was made necessary when one of the three District Representatives (DRs) for Calgary City resigned in January. The timing of the vacancy coincided with the 2019 Provincial Executive Council (PEC) Election, so it was decided to run both elections at the same time.

How are they different?

2019 Calgary City By-Election

There is only one DR position to be filled and the term is only until June 30, 2019, the end of the two-year term of the current PEC.

2019 PEC Election

All three DR positions for Calgary City are open for the new PEC term , July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2021.
