Survey Implementation Raises Serious Concern

Alberta Education is asking a number of school divisions to communicate to schools, administrators and teachers that they have been selected for possible participation in the upcoming Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS). Participation in this activity is supposed to be voluntary, but messages around teacher participation are not being delivered consistently across the province. This has implications for survey validity and teacher assignable time.

The Alberta Teachers' Association has expressed a number of concerns related to this program.

Please read this memorandum to learn more about the Association's concerns and for specific advice for administrators and teachers identified for possible participation.
