Local Political Engagement Awards

The Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA) values meaningful relationships between local associations and elected officials. To recognize excellence in political engagement, the ATA presents up to three annual awards, based on merit, to the locals that have undertaken the most effective and innovative political engagement programs or projects

This competition is open to all ATA locals and student locals.

Download and fill out a 2017/18 Local Political Engagement Award Competition Entry Form. Be sure to include the name of your local president and identify a program or project leader who has agreed to serve as a contact for the purposes of the application.

Prepare a detailed summary of your program or project and compile samples of support materials. The summary should identify the problem or opportunity addressed, objectives, target audiences, key messages, actions taken and a program or project evaluation.

Attach your summary and support materials to the competition entry form and forward your submission by June 1, 2018, to Jonathan Teghtmeyer, Associate Coordinator, Communications, The Alberta Teachers' Association, 11010 142 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T5N 2R1, jonathan.teghtmeyer@ata.ab.ca.

Entries are judged by an independent panel, which bases its decision on the following criteria: quality of work, clarity of objectives, evidence of imagination and innovation, and measurability of results. The ATA reserves the right to reproduce and publish copies of materials submitted in support of an application.

Awards will be presented to representatives of the winning locals at the 2018 ATA Summer Conference.
