Joining a Corps

Consultant and Instructor Corps

Consultants are practising teachers who, while still performing their classroom duties, have also volunteered to assist Association staff by helping with various tasks that must be conducted in the field. Consultants and Instructors receive training at weekend sessions during the school year and at the Association's Summer Conference.

The Association has five consultant corps:

Economic Consultants

Economic consultants help local economic policy committees with work related to collective bargaining.

Pension Consultants

This corps of volunteers is made up of teachers who receive training in the Alberta Teachers' Pension Plan, other forms of retirement income (such as RRSPs and the Canada Pension Plan), retirement lifestyle planning and post-retirement benefit plans. Pension consultants are available to conduct workshops, make presentations and meet individually with teachers as they prepare for retirement.

Professional Development Facilitators

Professional development facilitators help local PD chairs and committees to develop school-based PD programs for teachers. If you are interested in joining the Association Instructor Corps, complete the application form found here.

Association Administrator Instructors

Association Administrator instructors present workshops for school staffs, administrator groups, system PD days and teachers' conventions.

Association Instructors

Association instructors present workshops and seminars on topics requested by teachers. Presentations take place at the school site.
