Speaker Proposals Wanted!

MCATA is pleased to collect speaker proposals for the 2023 MCATA Conference occurring on October 20-21, 2023, at the Delta Calgary Downtown by Marriott. Join keynotes Pam Harris and Graham Fletcher for a great weekend of learning, networking, and general math awesomeness!

UPDATE: Presenters may choose between a $200 discount on conference registration or a $200 honorarium.

MCATA is soliciting proposals for two kinds of presentations this year: standard 50-minute sessions and submissions for math playground facilitators.

  • 50-minute sessions should be engaging, interesting, and relevant to the conference theme of Dare to be: Creative, Curious, and Courageous Mathematicians.
  • Math Playground proposals should be hands-on activities which participants can pop in and out of. Think, science fair for math teachers! Bring your favorite hands-on activity, low-cost manipulatives, or most exciting problem-string to get teachers engaged and talking. Anticipated audience participation time is approximately 5-10 minutes. Math playground facilitators will be responsible for interacting with small groups at their tables as they engage with the activity. This is an excellent low-stress opportunity to participate in the conference.
