Skipping hearts
During January and February, students attending R. J. Hawkey Elementary School, in Airdrie, participated in the school’s third annual Jump Rope for Heart. The event encourages children to be physically active while raising awareness and money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta.
"It is wonderful to watch the children get involved in this cause, and we are pleased to report that approximately 200 students in Grades 1–4 raised $23,000 this year!" says Dan Hoch, principal of
R. J. Hawkey Elementary School. Over the past two years, students raised more than $33,000.00. The school’s staff and students are already looking forward to next year’s Jump Rope for Heart.
