Kathleen McCullough (Kay) was born in Edmonton and raised in Hanna, Alberta. She graduated from Normal School in 1935 and took her first teaching position at Newell School, near Fenner, Alberta.

McCullough taught at various rural schools before moving to Calgary. She accepted a teaching position at the Hebrew School, which at the time was a private school. After several years, she moved to James Short Elementary and finally to Cambrian Heights Elementary. She retired from teaching in 1975. McCullough, who taught mostly Grade 4, was a dedicated educator who enjoyed volleyball and shared her love for the game with her female students, to whom she taught the game during her spare time.

She is survived by Eddy McCullough, her husband of 59 years. She is also survived by her son Ron (Clair); daughters Sharon Moorhead and Colleen (Larry) Stella; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother John Herbert and great-granddaughter Dawsyn Bishop.
