The Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) supports the improvement of student learning and performance by encouraging teachers, parents and the community to work collaboratively to introduce innovative and creative initiatives based on local needs and circumstances.
Edmonton Catholic AISI Literacy Strategies for the 21st Century project helps students become engaged and active learners through the integration of literacy strategies as well as digital, visual, textual and technological mediums.
AISI Multimedia Consultant Johanne Renaud says the “AISI project gives students numerous literacy strategies to help them comprehend content in all the core subjects by focusing on the skills of accessing, evaluating, synthesizing and contributing to information.” She adds, “Literacy today is not confined to traditional understandings of reading and writing.”
