ATA launches renovated website

June 15, 2010
The Alberta Teachers’ Association’s new website was launched June 4. The streamlined site features links to important information about the Association, the teaching profession in Alberta, Association publications (including the ATA News and ATA Magazine and library resources), a news room and a members’ section focussing on services provided to teachers by the Association. New additions to the website are an RSS feed, links to Twitter, an active calendar and announcement feature, and the display of visitor comments on selected items. Teachers who log on to the site will still have access to their Association profile, online journals and subgroup sites.

Dennis Theobald, ATA Coordinator of Communications, said the website’s redesign was driven by members’ needs. “Teachers told us they wanted a dynamic website that was easy to access and that provided them with pertinent information about their profession and the Association’s position on major educational issues. In particular, we were told to revitalize the online version of the ATA News. I’m confident that our members will enjoy a much more positive and smoother online visit.” Theobald pointed out that redevelopment of the site will be an ongoing task and that the Association is committed to continually improving the online experience it offers members and the public.

Teachers are encouraged to visit the site and to provide feedback about the site (visit www.teachers.ab.ca and click on Contact Us, located in the upper right-hand corner).
