Education-Business partnerships

Successful partnership celebrated

A partnership promoting community spirit and student growth through problem solving has gone public in a big way.

Education-business partners M.E. LaZerte School and PCL Constructors in Edmonton unveiled a community sign in front of the school on October 17. The sign, designed, planned and constructed at the school, incorporates a message board to advertise school and community events.

The partnership, which began in 1991, gives students opportunities to learn skills and attitudes required in the world of work. The partnership was a provincial winner in The Conference Board of Canada's National Awards for Excellence in Business-Education Partnerships for 1993/94.

Education-Business partnership conference planned

The Conference Board of Canada, in collaboration with the International Partnership Network, is presenting its third International Partnership Conference. "Business and Education Working Together" will be held April 13 to 16, 1996, at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel in Toronto, Ontario.

The conference will feature key international themes such as education renewal and economic growth, skills for life in the global economy and community development through partnerships.
