Assistance to University Faculties of Education
The Association provides assistance to and liaison with the university faculty of education programs in the province. Members of staff are assigned to liaise with a specific faculty of education. This assignment includes Association representation on a variety of faculty of education committees. Staff members are responsible for the Association's Area Field Experiences Committees. These committees provide feedback to the universities in regard to the specific teacher education program and provide feedback to their members about issues relating to the teacher education programs. Selected members of each of the area field experiences committees sit on a faculty of education field experiences policy advisory committee, providing input on the various components of the field experiences programs. Each year the Association formally meets with each faculty of education to discuss issues of common interest.
The Association produces Teaching in Alberta - A Teacher Education Learning Resource, a resource provided to all students in the faculties of education. This publication contains information on education governance, the teaching profession, the Alberta Teachers' Association, teacher professionalism, and Association policy and practice. Workshops and presentations based on this material are presented by the Association staff to university classes at each faculty of education.
