Automatic Specialist Council Memberships are here!

As a result of a resolution passed at the Alberta Teachers’ Association’s (ATA’s) 2007 Annual Representative Assembly, active members of the ATA have the opportunity to join one specialist council of their choice each year at no charge.

Specialist councils are an integral part of the Association’s activities. Granting members automatic membership in a specialist council is an innovative step toward increasing Professional Development opportunities for educators throughout Alberta and a way of promoting the professional expertise of teachers in curriculum and specialty areas.

The online system for selecting your no-charge membership is now available. In order to begin accessing your specialist council membership, please follow these steps:

1. Access the Provincial ATA site www.teachers.ab.ca or a local ATA Website (if available)
2. Select the login link in the upper right-hand corner of the screen (in the blue bar).
3. Enter your TNET login (username@teachers.ab.ca). If you do not have a TNET login, you may request an account from the login page.
4. Once you have logged in to TNET, review your choices from the menu that will appear towards the right-hand side of your screen.
5. From the Tools option in your right-hand menu, select the Specialist Council Membership link.
6. Click on Click here to get a membership in a specialist council.
