AISI Clearing House
Established in 1999, the Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) is a program designed to improve student learning and performance by fostering initiatives that reflect the unique needs and circumstances of individual school authorities. From the onset, AISI has been a collaborative effort involving the following education partners:
- Alberta Home and School Councils' Association (AHSCA)
- Alberta Education
- Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA)
- Association of School Business Officials of Alberta (ASBOA)
- Alberta Teachers' Association (ATA)
- College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS)
- University Faculties of Education (University of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of Lethbridge, Campus Saint-Jean)
To date, there have been two cycles of AISI funding. During the first cycle (2000 to 2003) the government committed $204 million to the project. During the second cycle (2003 to 2006), the government invested an additional $208 million. In March 2006, the government committed an additional $71 million to support a third cycle of AISI initiatives.
Each cycle of AISI funding has resulted in a wide range of projects designed to improve student learning. Alberta Education has developed an AISI Clearing House
that summarizes all the projects that have been completed to date.
