Teacher Exchange Programs

If you are looking for an adventure and a powerful professional development experience, you might be interested in Alberta Education's Educator Exchange Programs.

Two kinds of exchanges are possible:

One-year exchanges: These exchanges enable teachers in Alberta to swap their jobs (and homes) with teachers in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Denmark and Switzerland for a period of one year. During this time, the teacher continues to be paid by his or her school board in Alberta. When the year is over, the teacher returns to his or her original position in Alberta.

Short-term exchanges: These exchanges, which occur during the spring and summer holidays, enable teachers and administrators to job shadow with a counterpart in Germany or Denmark.
