About us

As a professional organization and the voice of the province’s teachers, the Alberta Teachers’ Association (the Association) is dedicated to advancing the cause of education and to building the teaching profession in this province. The Association represents all public, separate and francophone school teachers in the province of Alberta.

The provincial Association and its locals have both union functions, such as negotiating and monitoring collective agreements and representing teachers in matters of employment, and professional functions, such as policing the professional conduct and competence of teachers, providing professional development, providing input to government on education policy and advocating for public education.

Key to fulfilling the Association’s mission are its executive, intermediate and clerical staff, who work tirelessly to ensure the development and delivery of the Association’s programs and services.
